Thanks so much to everyone who came to the pop-up shop this week! I really loved meeting you and hearing your love stories. Boone is a special place. Lots of love stories started here. This town is filled with kind people who have made our move from Virginia easy and joyful! Warm thanks and appreciation to Allan, Susan and Jonathan who let me set up in their store this week. Veggies, Fruit & More is truly a "local favorite!"
Pennsylvania Wedding — Falling in Love
I've learned a lot from Sarah. Big things like — "You have to dream big, and then go to work with what's in front of you" — and little things like wrapping bouquets at the wedding site because it keeps the ribbons dry. Both of these things are very important.
Wrapping bouquets on site gives me an opportunity to deliver the bouquet to the bride. This is the best part of my job. She has just spent all morning getting ready — her makeup is done, her dress is on, her veil is perfectly positioned — then I hand her her bouquet. She smiles, examining each flower and all the little details, and I realize she is fully present. She is enjoying what God has made for her that day, and she has just fallen in love with flowers. My work is done.
Thanks to Erin of Er!n Keough Photography for sharing these beautiful images. Erin is such a pleasant photographer. She brings out the calm in her couples on an otherwise busy day. You can especially see that in this last photo...which is my favorite :)
Meant to Be
A lot of you have been asking about life in Boone, what it's like and how Jesse and I like it. So I wanted to take a minute to tell you!
When we moved into our little country house I felt like I had moved home. I don't know how else to describe it! Everything just feels right here. I think it's easy to get disconnected from the natural world — like trees and birds and sunshine. So many of us spend our days behind a computer in a cubical, and it throws of the natural rhythms of the seasons. It's really calm and refreshing here, and it was just "meant to be."
You were meant to be too.
Meant to be touching the lives you touch
Meant to be here making this world so much more that it would be without you in it
Meant to be bringing the gifts you bring
Meant to be singing the songs you've been given to sing
You are perfectly, wonderfully, beautifully meant to be
You were meant to be.
Today I was sitting in "the green chair," our favorite living room chair, and Steven Curtis Chapman's song "Meant to be" came on and I was just swept away in the Lord's great love for a few minutes. The Lord has done great things, friends — in my heart and for Philosophy Flowers. God has fought every fight and He has given me unusual favor (in the world's eyes, but normal favor in the eyes of someone who knows his heart!), paving the way for me and this work He started in my heart a long time ago. I've only needed to be still, follow the feathers and trust Him. His work is so beautiful.
Listen to this song before you leave the blog today. Don't be distracted by the talking cucumber (this song was written for a children's movie, which actually, I think is really cool, cool as a cucumber, because every child should know this). Just close your eyes and know, you, right now, today, you were meant to be!
P.S. If you feel compelled to visit — do it — do it in May for the "march of the rhododendrons." That's an event I made up, and it's going to be awesome. The CRAAAA-Z weather should pass by then. If you want to come now, come, but hooooooolie molie! Bring hip boots, mittens, goggles, a parka, and most importantly..."leotards" also known to normal people as long underwear. This was last week...
P.S. If you like pinterest, follow Philosophy Flowers so we can follow you back! I looove ideas and I get so many from my friends!
